The 2009 Alliance for Regional Stewardship’s (ARS) Regional Strategies Forum will address the realities of the changing economic landscape and offer ideas on how to restructure regions for future growth. A lineup of expert regional practitioners will discuss challenges faced by regions nationwide and offer practical advice to help you lead your region towards recovery.

Speaker: Ted Abernathy, Executive Director, Southern Growth Policies Board

Whether urban, suburban, or rural, success in the 21st century will be dependent on the ability of places to create flexible, results-focused collaboration. In a world where data noise is paralyzing, what can places do to convert noise into information and actions that will help them become more competitive? Since the 2006 launch of the ACCE-Ford Foundation Fellowship for Regional Sustainable Development, 90 business-civic leaders have completed the program and are now part of a larger movement to create sustainable, competitive regions.  Graduates from the 2008-09 class will share key lessons learned and discuss how business-civic leaders are influencing the regional agenda.
