ACCE, with the cooperation and support of ARS, offers a series of workshops that provide participants with practical tools, strategies and policies for leading and implementing a regional agenda.

ACCE, supported by the Alliance for Regional Stewardship (ARS) and the Ford Foundation, presented Principles and Practices of Regional Development: a one-day regional growth strategies workshop that covers the fundamental principals and practices necessary to help community leaders think, strategize and plan on a regional level on April 29, 2009 in Las Vegas. The following are presentations from that workshop.

An overview of the principles and primary structures for success in regional development, including a discussion of the three pillars of sustainability: the economy, social equity, and environmental stewardship.

Presenter: Michael Langley, President, Langley Group

Learn how the model of the Allegheny Conference, merging the expertise of stakeholder groups such as the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber, the Pennsylvania Economy League of Southwest Pennsylvania, and the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance, helped Pittsburgh develop in the changing economy by playing to the strengths of each sub-unit of the organization.

Presenter: Dick Fleming, President, St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association

A presentation on regional initiatives that seek to identify and pursue real opportunities for regional prosperity within the green movement, led by Dick, a founding board member of the Climate Prosperity Project and a leader of one of eight pilot Climate Prosperity Strategies programs in metropolitan St. Louis.
